So, the word ABRACADABRA has always bothered me. I have always thought of it as being something that a really bad magic act would use in a performance. You know, when the magician pulls the rabbit out of the hat. But for some reason, the word keeps popping up in my life. So I thought, I would do a little "wiki-googling" and find out where it came from.
Apparently, it was originally used in the following form to prevent malaria. What?
I am really glad I do not live in a time where ABRACADABRA is a cure for malaria. But, what really caught my interest was that there is a rumor going around that this word originates from the Aramaic phrase.
"I create as I speak."
Now, that to me is beautiful and really something that has a deeper meaning in the world today.
Neato!
