hayao miyazaki

I posted this 8-bit version of Spirited Away on Facebook. A good friend of mine, who is also a Hayao Miyazaki fan said,

"This just makes me realize that Spirited Away made no sense. There isn't a narrative for the main character besides moving from one disjointed scene to the next. The supporting characters have no real motivation or arc when viewed in this abbreviated manner."

Which is a completely valid statement.

Interestingly enough, I just watched a documentary called, The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness. The documentary really shows the reality of Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli itself. But the most important thing I learned as how Miyazaki creates. How he plots or how he doesn't plot.

What a pantser!
